    You Are Invited to Parent Night/Hamburger Feed

    hamburgerCome get acquainted with the teachers and staff of South Haven School on Wednesday, August 21.  At 6 pm in the north gym you will be greeted by Mr. B, Mr. Levan and the South Haven faculty. Following, elementary parents will meet individual teachers in their rooms, while 6-12 parents will walk through their child's schedule.

    The evening will conclude with a hamburger/watermelon feed sponsored by the Board of Education. Come join us to get a great start to the school year!

    Community rewards from Dillons

    South Haven Schools earned $214 dollars last quarter from Dillons Community Rewards.  If you are not enrolled, go to the Dillons Community Reward website and our school code is SL361 (or search for South Haven Schools).  Thanks for supporting our school!

    WOW! What an awesome response of labels and spinners given out.  I will have to collect names, because more spinners are on order, but not here yet!  Collect 15 labels and collect a prize!  See Melinda Byers for details.

    It is Enrollment Time

    If you missed the scheduled enrollment time for South Haven Schools, you can still enroll in the school office.

    In addition to filling out the necessary forms, school fees will need to be paid as well as updating immunizations and emergency contact information. All students new to the district will also have to provide copies of student social security cards, birth certificate, and immunization records. If you have questions about enrollment, please call the school office at 620-892-5215 x 2.

    Immunization Requirements 2019-20

    The Sumner County Health Department has released the following immunization requirements for students K-12 for the upcoming school year. 

    Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (DTaP): Five doses required.

    Hepatitis A: Two doses required. (Provisional based on expected revision to K.A.R.28-1-20 prior to school year)

    Hepatitis B: Three doses required.

    Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR): Two doses required.

    Poliomyelitis (IPV/OPV): Four doses required.

    Varicella (Chickenpox): Two doses are required. No doses are required when student has history of varicella disease documented by a licensed physician.

    Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap): One dose required at entry to 7th grade.

    Meningococcal (Serogroup A,C,W,Y): Two doses required. Doses should be given at entry to 7th grade (11-12 years) and 11th grade (16-18 years. For children 16-18 years, only one dose is required. (Provisional based on expected revision to K.A.R.28-1-20 prior to school year)

    Please make sure your child has the necessary immunizations prior to school beginning. For more information, contact the Sumner County Health Dept. at 620-326-2774.

    School Board Elections

    Seven candidates have filed for the three regular and one two-year position on the South Haven Board of Education. Candidates filing for the four-year regular positions are: 

    Suzie Bacon, Kim Byers, Casey Cullens, Kalen Fitch, Don Minor, and Matt Theurer

    Filing for the two-year term is Bryan Smith. 

    There will be no primary election in August. Voting for these positions will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Those elected will take their seats on the Board at the January 2020 meeting.
