What Does a Cell Look Like?

    7th Grade Science Project 1

7th grade students in Ms. Osborn's class are studying about cell structure. In teams they created an analogy of a cell by picking a theme such as a waterpark, farm, zoo, city, and woods.  They had to use the theme to explain the parts and how a cell works. To see more pictures of their creations go to the Junior High page of the website.

    Author Visits South Haven

Former South Haven teacher and author, Sherry Galloway Willis, visited with South Haven prekindergarten, kindergarten, first and second grade students on November 12. Mrs. Willis has been an educator for 43 years and had taught prekindergarten, kindergarten and music here at South Haven before retiring. She read her published books to students and fielded questions. The author showed preliminary artwork for her first book, Cowboy Tad the Triangle Man. She shared that getting a book printed took about a year. She wrote Cowboy Tad to help her prekindergarten students remember the triangle shape. Next she read Rex the Mighty Rectangle followed by Roady’s Rescue: An Extraordinary Pig’s Purpose. Roady was a piglet found beside the road and raised by Tess Dvorak of South Haven. Her books contain rhyming text and reinforce concepts of friendship and acceptance. The students enjoyed their first author talk!
