    infant through age five screening

On Monday, July 27th from 8:40 AM to 1:20 PM, Sumner County Educational Services will offer free developmental screenings to children birth through five years of age. If you are interested in how your child is growing and developing, please call the School Office at 620-892-5215 X2 to schedule an appointment. Parents, there are 5 stations that your child will go through, so please plan to spend at least an hour at the screening. If your child is currently enrolled in South Haven’s preschool, or is on an IFSP/IEP it is not necessary to have him/her screened. If you have any questions or concerns, please talk with your child’s teacher.

This is a cooperative effort among Sumner County Educational Service Interlocal, Futures Unlimited, and USD 509.

    Summer Food Service sites

The last day for meal service in the South Haven School District is May 14. After this date, if you wish your child(ren) to be served meals you will have to access that service through one of the schools in neighboring districts listed on the Summer Meals list. Most summer food service runs through June 30. Most sites are serving until June 30th. Please call the phone number on the list  to find out times and dates of service. Any child age 1-18 is eligible for the Summer Food Service Program.

Exploration Place is offering Summer Activities

Since so many camps have been cancelled this summer,. Exploration Place is offering virtual summer camps-in-a-box for students  since they will not be coming to the school.

And not to worry, your child won’t be glued to a device screen all day! We’ve taken the best of both worlds – digital and IRL to develop these sessions!

In fact, you’ll get an exciting kit bursting with a multitude of hands-on activities that will keep your child immersed in all things STEM, all day long.

Choose from two themed sessions per week, which include the fun camp kit, virtual social time with other campers, and a special lunchtime guest who will share expertise about the camp topic.

Each week's camp is $75 for members of Exploration Place and $90 for non-members.

    Each week's camp includes:

    • 1 camp kit with supplies for about 25 activities
    • 10 camp Zoom meet-ups
    • 5 Lunch and Learns
    • 4 exhibit passes to Exploration Place

Camp supply boxes can be shipped to you for a $20 fee, or Mr. Burgess has offered to pick up your child's camp box if you will let him know that is needed. Each week's camps are listed on the Exploration Place Camps website, along with FAQs and registration information.  You will need to let Emily at the school office know by the Thursday before your child's camp if you want Mr. Burgess to pick up the camp box.

    Happy camping, Cardinals!
