    School Board Elections

    Seven candidates have filed for the three regular and one two-year position on the South Haven Board of Education. Candidates for the four-year regular positions are: 

    Suzie Bacon, Kim Byers, Casey Cullens, Kalen Fitch, Don Minor, and Matt Theurer

    Candidate for the two-year term is Bryan Smith. 

    Voting for these positions will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Those elected will take their seats on the Board at the January 2020 meeting. 

    Artic Adventure Book Fair is Coming!

    Looking for a Christmas gift for an elementary student? Or a treat for someone doing something great? Artic Adventure Book Fair begins October 17 during school hours at the school. There will be books of all kinds for students from Preschool to Grade 6. Every book sold helps earn money for books for the school. Special events planned include Grandparents Day on October 18 from 2:30 - 5 pm with an ice cream social, the book fair open on Tuesday, October 22 during parent-teacher conferences, and a final day of the fair on Wednesday, October 23.  Books make a great gift!     CAllie Locke Recognized for her writing skills

    Last spring Callie Locke wrote an essay to enter into the 4th congressional district Youth Writing Contest. On September 14, Callie went to the state capitol in Topeka to receive her prize for placing 2nd in the entire 4th Congressional District where she was recognized in the Kansas State Senate Chamber during the Kansas Book Festival. In addition to her recognition and certificate, Callie received a cash prize for her efforts! Congratulations, Callie!!! 

    National honor Society to hold Community Dinner Oct. 20

    South Haven NHS is hosting a community chili and potato soup dinner by donation on Sunday, October 20 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Shoo Fly Building, This is a fundraiser for the NHS with proceeds going toward expenses for the NHS trip to New York next spring. Come and enjoy the food and fellowship while supporting our NHS chapter. See you there!

    Cardinal Club Color Run

    On Saturday, November 9th, 2019, South Haven Cardinal Club will be hosting a Color-A-Thon Fun Run! The Cardinal Club would like to invite all students, family, and friends to join us in helping raise funds for technology, playground equipment, and other fun and educational activities for the students of South Haven Schools. Each student will raise funds by asking family and friends to be their sponsors.

    Students will have an opportunity to earn prizes and awards based on their participation in the Color-a-Thon Fundraiser. 

    Parents and communitiy members are also invited to register and participate in the Color-a-Thon Fun Run. Extra registration forms are available at the school, post office and Muffin Top Bakery.
