South Haven FFA and 4-H Students compete at Kansas State Fair Livestock Shows

The Kansas State Fair may have been cancelled this year, but the State Fair Youth Livestock Shows went on the weekend of September 12 and 13. South Haven students who took animals to the shows did very well. One even brought home a reserve champion buckle.

Will Theurer, South Haven 4-Her and future FFA member, has shown several pigs this year, all named for Disney characters. His favorite has been a Spot gilt named Dory. Will hoped he would place high with Dory at the State Fair, and won his Dark AOB class, which was exciting. That meant he would come back to show for Champion Dark AOB gilt. The judge selected Dory as Reserve Champion, which meant Will received a buckle, which he says he will wear a lot! Will intends to breed Dory and hopes to show one of her pigs next year for the fair.

Other South Haven FFA and 4-H members showing at the State Fair were:

Dylan DeWitt - 3rd place heifer, 4th place commercial gilt (class 23), 3rd and 12th place commercial gilts (class 24)

Corbin Lucas - 10th place commercial gilt (class 30)

Cole Theurer - 1st place commercial gilt (class 29)

Grace Theurer - 1st place commercial gilt (class 30)
