FFA Helps Rancher Affected by Starbuck Fire in Clark County

On March 6, the largest grass fire in recent Kansas history swept over Clark and Comanche Counties in Kansas. The fire burned over 700,000 acres destroying homes and outbuildings, and killed thousands of cattle, horses and other wildlife. Over 85% of Clark County burned in the fire. Since that time, donations of hay, feed, supplies and labor have been coming from across the country to help the farmers and  ranchers. The South Haven FFA was a part of that relief effort. On Friday, March 24, a group of FFA members went to Ashland, Kansas to help tear down fence, rebuild fence, roll up wire, and place corner posts for the Clawson Ranch. It was a great experience for the FFA, and it allowed our kids to lend a helping hand to the agricultural community. It built character in our students and made them realize the importance of community service. Thank you FFA members. We are proud of your efforts!
