Attendance Policy

If your student is absent from school for any reason, a phone call or note from a parent or guardian is required for the absence to be an excused absence.  If your student needs to leave school early and will be driving themselves OR be picked up by someone other than a parent or guardian, you will need to call the school in advance for the student to leave early with that person.

School Hours

School will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will dismiss at 3:40 p.m. each day.  Parents...please DO NOT send your children to school before 7:45 a.m.  Students will not be supervised except from 7:45 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. when teachers will be on duty.

We know there are lots of photographers out in the community who snap great shots of our kids in action. With Replayit.com you can upload photos and videos that Jostens team will screen for appropriateness and then the Year book team will be able to access them and decide if to include them in the printed publication.

To sign up for Parents Online, please call Joy in the High School Office at 620-892-5215 X2.  Parents Online and Students Online is a web tool designed for parents and students to access student information online.  Information included is:  Attendance, Behavior, Calendar, Fees, Grade Card, Immunizations, Personal, Progress Reports, Schedule, Transcript, and Community Service.

Supply Lists for USD 509 Students for 2017-18

Supply lists for students in PreK through 4th grade and for 5th Grade through 12th grade are linked below. Please read through the entire supply list for your student(s) because some supplies are listed by grade and some are listed by class. If you have questions, please contact Brooke in the district office at 620-892-5215 x 1.

USD 509 is selling Chevy pickup by sealed bid

USD 509 is offering for sale by sealed bid a 1991 Chevy 3500 pickup. Pickup will be sold as is. Odometer reading is not guaranteed but is believed to be accurate and still works. Pickup may be seen 7 AM to 4 PM Monday through Thursday at the school or by appointment by calling Brian Byers at the school 620-892-5215 x 1. Bids must be in a sealed envelope and submitted to the USD 509 District Office or mailed to Brooke Price-Board Clerk, USD 509, PO Box 229, South Haven KS 67140 , and must be in the District Office by noon on Friday, August 11. Bids will be opened at 2 PM on Friday, August 11, in the USD 509 District Office. The Board of Education reserves the right to reject any and all bids.

Enrollment Dates Announced

Enrollment dates for USD 509 will be August 7 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and August 8 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Parents will  enter the south gym at the school and will pick up packets with enrollment forms for their child(ren). They will then take the forms to the appropriate areas to enroll their student(s). Parents who cannot enroll their students at these scheduled times should contact the school office to make alternate arrangements.

I can only send in Campbell's labels through August 1 and then the program is ending, so if you have any, please get them to the school ASAP.

 

Also, used cartridges and cell phones are collected by our school.
